Smaller groups of up to ten people can be accommodated within The Star Inn's mural-painted Private Dining Room upstairs in the eaves of the thatch or on the ‘Kitchen Table’ for 7 to 8 people.
For larger groups, we offer a number of options at Cross House Lodge, just across the road, especially when all 13 bedrooms are booked for the evening of the celebration or event. This allows for the Lodge’s communal areas and groups to be ‘taken over’, creating an intimate ‘Country House’ atmosphere with the added luxury of Michelin-starred food, a fantastic wine cellar and knowledgeable, friendly front of house service! Our newly built Barn block of 4 rooms opened for bookings in September 2020.
At Cross House Lodge, the Wheelhouse with its spectacular beamed roof is without doubt a star. The Wheelhouse serves as the Lodge’s own private dining room and is also licensed for Wedding and Civil Partnership ceremonies.
It’s sectional King Arthuresque table magically transforms into the ceremony table and then retransforms into a single table seating up to 20 or two to four smaller tables for wedding breakfasts and larger celebrations of up to 40 people – or into a ‘Boardroom’ table for corporate meetings.
The Lodge also has considerable outdoor space, including a lawned area allowing for al fresco reception drinks in warmer weather. The sizeable lawned area is also suitable for marquees with a capacity of up to 100 people. Food preparation for weddings and events is carried out to the same standards as in our Michelin-starred restaurant and, whilst we can make lots of menu suggestions, fine details are agreed with the individual event organiser.
The interior of the Hotel has a shooting lodge-style lounge with a two-sided central fireplace, where guests can relax indoors and this opens on to The Wheelhouse. The atmosphere at Cross House Lodge is extra special at Christmastime, when the Star Inn elves decorate the lounge and dining areas with festive foliage and trees with twinkling lights.
