The Bar Among the most atmospheric in Yorkshire. A 14th century thatched inn furnished in oak by Mousey Thompson, with low beams, candle-lit nooks, open fires, padded pews and a faint smell of woodsmoke and beeswax in the air, says it all. The Bar, which also serves as the village local, is constantly enjoyed for its warmth and cosiness. Food is served in the Bar from the A la Carte Menu, which at lunchtime also includes sandwiches and snacks. Tables are not reserved in the bar, where bookings operate on a 'first come, first served' basis. Should you prefer to guarantee a table in this busy spot, we would advise reserving a table in one of our dining rooms. |

( About two weeks later, you’re explaining to an obvious foodie why The Star is so good and you say: “Look, if you danced on the tables, most pubs would chuck you straight out, and so would The Star.” And the foodie interrupts and says: “But only for dancing badly”, and you say, “Exactly”. ) S Pern |
